Mar 30, 2017 Amateur League EU Inside Lounge Interview

Season 3 of Heroes Lounge has just started, round 1 has been seeded, and we are eagerly waiting for games to begin. While we are warming up, we bring you the monster that demolished all other teams in Season 2, ended undefeated in division 1, and went on to win the playoffs without losing a single match (only a few maps dropped along the way).

FAT#5 came together one day when the grand rigger Epixors decided it would be fun to put the best free agents into one team and see what would happen. FAT#5 is back in season 3, and they will be looking to repeat their success, they have even chosen to stick with their given name. We sat down with members of FAT#5 and asked them to answer some questions for us.

Greetings FAT#5, let's start off with some introductions.

Can we get each player to introduce themselves to the community of Heroes Lounge, and tell us how did they decide to sign up for it, and as free agents no less?

Undead: Ello, I’m Undead, living somewhere in Norway, idk where. Main tank/flex of FAT #5. I am the captain, main tank, shotcaller, drafter, cake-eater, trait value etc. Basically nothing happens in this team if I don’t do something, which is a problem considering how lazy I am OSsloth.

I signed up for Heroes Lounge because I thought it was fun, and so that I could actually play considering Throw Inc. wouldn’t let me be sub because of too high MMR FeelsBadMan I signed up as a free agent because it sounded like less work OSsloth I was wrong because someone rigged it.

Varaukko: Finnish flex player. Found Heroes Lounge on reddit and decided that i wanted to try playing in a team. I play literally every hero in game if needed, so just don't ban my murky so I don't have to play anything else. I always miss my ults and when I die it's because Deewan didn't heal enough, Undead didn't feed enough or when ganked and team didn't ping at least 50 times.

Karox: Professional Swedish ult waster. Got inspired to join Heroes Lounge by watching Khaldor on Youtube. I play everything from Tychus to Falstad. Usually deny my team to get the globes on Braxis.

Nano: Proud Spanish feeder,  joined FAT#5 in order to improve my English by finding Undead  in Hero League. I play bruisers, ranged dps, specs and Kael'Thas and let my team play the hard Stuff. Ready to play Season 3 ^^

Deewan: French Pleb. Discovered Heroes Lounge on Reddit and gave it a try. Been forced into playing support since I was the only one with some experience on the role. Only one from the team who didn't reach GM ever. Unable to follow roots on Undead's Hooks.

You’ve heard it here first folks, Undead can in fact hit a hook from time to time, maybe in season 3 we get to see it. Kappa. I’m sure everyone is very interested in your beginnings as a team, how does it look like when you get placed in a FAT team, and the whole process of organizing for some warm-up practice and the actual games?

Undead: Well the biggest problem at the start was gathering 5 random people, especially when your teammates are noobs and don’t use discord. We didn’t get in contact with each other before the day when we would know our first opponent and one of us decided to quit, so we had to look for a replacement early on.

So I found a sub, but not a replacement, so Deewan and I went and played some HL together in season 2. This is how we meet Nano, a random HL scrub that had no idea on what heroeslounge was. We have no idea what this warm-up practice mean so I can’t answer that OSsloth. The actual games are pain to organize. Well at least with discord noobs, it takes most of them 2 days to even tell me if they can play or not Kappa no Kappa.

FeelsBadMan. We all remember your first game against Infinite Esports on Towers of Doom that spawned the NoComms meme. You managed to win that game (somehow), but as expected everyone seemed to be playing their game. Can you tell us more about that game and how did it feel like from your perspective?

Undead: This game was the beginning of me suffering as a main tank when I wanted to play DPS.I hated and still hate playing tank, and even wrote on discord that I didn’t like playing tank, but somehow I still ended up playing tank.

Well we just met up, 5 randoms who didn’t even know what each other played and simply picked heroes we wanted to play. We were also all too lazy to figure out if we wanted to use comms or not so we simply dropped that.

Our first game felt like a clean win, but the 2nd we ended up clowning a bit, I think it was probably because I picked Tyrael when I hadn’t played him in months and putting our trash sub on Valla Jebaited.

From that game to winning the Heroes Lounge and going undefeated through the entire season and the playoffs (except the coin toss for playoff seed, which you clearly threw to avoid Silver Plebs), how do you feel about the improvement and growth as a team during the season?

Undead: I feel like there are still a lot of stuff we can improve and that we can grow even more as a team together, especially our macro game.

What I’m happy with is our meme game. We have been the most successful team from div 1 in memes in season 2 SeemsGood.

This was something that was also very clear, from the start you were very good in button pressing, but you macro was lacking a bit, however we did see some improvement in that last season and are looking forward to seeing more in the next one. When it comes to the meme game, you didn’t really have too much competition there, as most division 1 teams are actually focused on playing the game. DansGame. Pretty early on due to NoComms meme and the fact that Epixors rigged your team so well you were in fact touted as the clear favorites to win Season 2, did that feel like pressure to you, or did you enjoy the role of the favorite?

Undead: I don't think we, well at least I, felt a lot of pressure of being favorites. That's simply because I tried to ignore that we might be the favorites. Instead I simply thought ourselves to be the underdogs, simply enjoy the games and win as many matches as we could.

What was the best series of the season for you and why?

Undead: I would have to say that was against GGU and that’s simply because of how hard the games were. They really made it hard for us to simply get the fights and were really good on taking control of the map, especially on Cursed Hollow.

That was truly an amazing series, we saw them use the macro really well there, and it was obvious after that game how much you’ve improved on that part as well. Tell us a little bit about your favorite moment of the season?

Undead: Probably the last game of the season vs LOTP when we had some fun in the comms when we were shittalking our own team. For example Nera and his convection stacks (praiseBe) and Deewan (probably) wondering if they are doing boss on Braxis at the 8 min mark when one of them are dead and all of us are alive. We made fun of that during the entire game FeelsGoodMan

Let's talk about Heroes Lounge a little bit, what is your opinion on the whole thing, and tell us some good and bad things about it.

Undead: I think heroeslounge is really fun place, where you can meet friends and improve your memes. I also like it because you will be able to play games you normally won’t be able to play in HL or TL.

What would you like to see changed/improved or added to Season 3?

Undead: A crown for the season winners to show that they won the last season and are special Keppo. Also a Probius  skin code for the winners OSsloth.

Do you expect to be able to repeat your success and win the next season? We have seen some new teams that might give you a run for your money.

Undead: We will try to win it again, but I know that several good players and teams is joining this season which will be annoying to play against. Im looking at you two Mystfiy and Yellowflash DansGame. I also know that several teams from season 2 is rejoining season 3, many of them can give us a run for the money, so getting two seasons in a row might not happen. RIP

How did it feel winning Season 2 and why is still there no custom emote that represents FAT#5?

Undead: Because I had been too lazy to contact the person who is supposed to create emotes. I also didn’t know/forgot which person I should contact. But its coming soonTM

That was the expected answer of course. Going into season 3 you have decided to keep your generic name of FAT#5. Why?

Undead: Well that’s because I’m too lazy to figure out a new name, and team is zzzzzzz OSsloth

Of course you are. For those of you who don’t know, the FAT names are given generically to teams, but any FAT team (or any other team) can rename themselves at any point, if they so wish. Who is your best player and how come it’s Deewan?

Undead: Deewan best player? LUL, he can be best player after learning to play more than 1 hero Jebaited. Also consider I’m currently the only grandmaster on our team, it’s safe to say I’m the best player Keepo.

A very modest player as well, as we can see. For the playoffs you had a pretty high profile sub in Nera(Feed) subbing for Nano, which also spawned several memes (doing a "Nera" is when you play a KT and not finish Convection stacks before the end of the game). How did it come to this, and what did you feel your chances were with a sub that didn't have that much time to practice with the team before the event?

Undead: Since our 5th member died and would later resurrect after playoffs, we had to look for a sub and pretty much everybody I wanted to recruit was playing in the playoffs, playing another role or already subbing. Therefor I had to go with Nera.

Of course later on one guy could sub, but I felt too much of a dick to replace Nera at that moment as I already had said him that he would play. But Nera made our chances really low Kappa. So low that I actually had to speak in voice feelsbadman. Anyway we practiced about 2 games with him and just put him on Guldank as that was a hero he could actually play SeeemsGood.

Cake?

Undead: Always cake FeelsGoodMan

A question I am sure many fans are dying to find out, so tell us Undead, which cake is the best?

Undead: Its easy, its chocolate cake, and that’s simply because I don’t like other cakes FeelsBadMan

To wrap things up are there any shootouts or last words you wish to share with us?

Undead: No...Maybe a shoutout to my dog. Also shoutout to the cake I’m currently eating, feelsgoodman.

And my team that was so nice helping me with creating these answers DansGame

Like half my team used almost a week to write about themself DansGame
