Season 7 Cup Recap

The Season 7 Heroes Lounge Cup has come to an end, and after 14 weeks of competition we were treated to an excellent weekend of matches featuring the top teams from Divisions 3, 4 & 5. However, there would only be one winner.

The Cup final weekend saw 11 teams (1 short due to Group D dropouts) battling it out over 13 games, all culminating in a best of 5 series featuring the 2 very best teams in the Cup. However, there was excitement and upsets galore in the early rounds as well,  as Division 5 team Earthworm Defense Force had a heck of a run beating both Treehouse Gaming and CoB Saltshakers from Division 4 in some great games, before eventually falling to the might of unconventional drafters, Team Tableflip.

Mentally 10 were certainly the dark horse of this season, at one point looking like they might eventually win the entire thing, especially after a surprising 2-0 victory over fan favourites Sloth Sanctuary, who many felt underperformed, as some had them pegged to potentially win the whole tournament! But it was not meant to be for Mentally 10, who whilst performing admirably throughout the weekend, ultimately fell to the eventual winners to claim 3rd place, having beaten Team TableFlip in the previous round.

This brought us to the Grand Finals. For the Murlocs were heavy favourites coming into this, having already beaten Brown Horse Gang 2-1 in the league earlier in the season, and also beat them 2-0 earlier that day in the Winners Finals. After a rough 1st match for Brown Horse Gang, they somehow managed to bounce back claiming the next 2 maps, leading us to Towers of Doom. In what was described as a team "going from losing the game, to winning the game, to losing the game to winning the game again" the map culminated in a final team fight in which the MVP may have to be given to the Keep Brown Horse Gang had taken, totally zoning the Brightwing of For the Murlocs out and enabling an epic comeback 3 vs 5 team fight victory that crowned Brown Horse Gang the victor.

We also ran a prediction contest for the Cup weekend, where community members had a chance to predict the top 3 winners of Cup. No one managed to get the exact top 3 correct, however one person got the closest, and that person was WolfyFiltiarn of Brown Horse Gang! Not only did they win the cup with their team, but thanks to them correctly guessing the top 2 and having the closest map score, they will soon be the proud owner of a Sloth Chibi Shirt designed by famous lounge artist, ArosAL.

There was also an MVP vote going on throughout the Cup weekend, after tallying the votes, the winner was Amirune, for their efforts in helping Earthworm Defense Force on their climb through the lower bracket! She will win a crochet sloth made by Clairw. In addition, the people who voted for Amirune were entered into a draw for a 2nd crochet sloth, and the draw crowned TarCrispo as the winning vote. Congratulations to all our winners!

This then brings us to the Championship, where the very best teams from Division 1 and 2 will battle it out for the right to be called the very best team in Heroes Lounge. It all starts Saturday 20th October at 13:00 CEST on both Channel 1 & Channel 2, then again the same time on Sunday 21st October on Channel 1 once more. 

We expect an amazing weekend of games, and there will be more competitions running throughout the weekend.
