The waiting time has finally come to an end - Season 7 of Heroes Lounge has now officially started, the grand opening rigging has happened and all of us now know who they're facing in the first round of play. Needless to say, thanks to the magic of odd numbers, there are already some early favourites in most divisions that were unfortunate enough to get a BYE and thus are not allowed to play in week 1, like Jaina The Frost Mage in division 2 for example, who upon finding out already celebrated avoiding relegation. But, let us now look at some of the more interesting matches that are actually going to happen in the next two weeks:
This game is a clash between two teams consisting of high profile players that are not only competing in Heroes Lounge, but also in the Open Division Tournaments. So while this holds true for many or even most of our teams in division 1, this match comes with some additional flavour. Nikurasu, a good guy and captain of The Good Guys, Chelvin and QopenHagen, both of them Frozen for now, used to play together on Zenon Esports only last season. So whoever comes out on top of this matchup does not only hold the inside track in the race towards the playoffs, but also gets the bragging rights for nine more weeks of play. Pride is on the line, folks, in what is sure to be a great match.
Bonus Match: Memeldors Meme Machines vs. LookingForName
After the season preview was released last week, we've received numerous complaints (albeit from the same person) that we forgot to mention Memeldors Meme Machines. Truth be told, they deserve to get some attention, so there you go. Now you better don't mess up versus new and hungry team LookingForName on your quest to win that Championship this time.
Division 2 gives us the biggest treat in terms of rigs to start of the new season. Those who have read the previous blog post are already aware that very few teams in Heroes Lounge are as rigged as Snipe City which consists of only the most renowned Lounge people, so let's be honest for a second, they would have been featured here regardless as it will be interesting to see how well those guys are playing together. No thanks to the riggers, they will face team GRIEFINGS!!! Now why is it so special that those two teams meet in round 1? Of the nine members on team Snipe City, four have previously been on GRIEFINGS!!! or Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru as they were known in Season 5. So while this is not necessarily a grudge match, it certainly is a grief match and plenty of memes should be coming out of this one.
Apologies to Sloth Sanctuary, you'll get a spot here eventually, but for now there's one question that's burning on the minds of everyone following the Cup divisions closely: Can miracle team LE GAG, who for some reason only got to division 3 despite winning division 3's ultimate prize coming from division 5, repeat their magical ride? Their path in doing so has become a lot harder this time as they probably won't march through division 3 unscathed as they did in division 5 last season. They should still be expected to make the playoffs, but the first team to test their real strength is team Yaoi Patrol, who have struggled a bit last season but are an experienced division 3 team and certainly not to be taken lightly.
Pls Buff Thrall vs. Treehouse Gaming
Both of those teams have already competed in season 6 as they were also both seeded in division four. Weirdly, in ten weeks they have not had to play against each other despite being only seperated by one total win in the standings. So of all the matchups listed here, this may very well be the closest and most interesting to watch. Both teams should have a decent shot at the playoffs at season's end, so this could also be a battle for division 4 supremacy. Also you cannot discount the fact that we might be able to witness a Frogenji which certainly is something that no one is going to want to miss!
What better to end the first #RIGGED with than the clash of two Free Agent Teams in FAT Goblin and FAT Bugbear, as it is the rigged matchup of two teams that have been rigged together, therefore examplifying everything that Heroes Lounge stands for! Okay, maybe not everything, but getting people together to play the game we all love in a friendly and competitive environment certainly fits for this match and hopefully all the others in week one. So for this match, good luck to both teams, may the better team win and the losing team strive to improve because there's still nine more weeks to come back and make it to the top!
Do you think we missed the most crucial matchup of the week or ignored a certain team for too long? Feel free to let us know by writing a kind DM to juliandoom on Discord and we'll consider fixing the issue immediately!
