Oct 05, 2017 Amateur League EU Inside Lounge Interview

Of all Team snOr can be accused of, it is definitely not their aggression. A team with a (single) plan, Team snOr have been consistent in their draft: sticking to comfort heroes that specialise in running it down mid: high priority in face-oriented heroes like Uther, Kael'thas, Diablo, and Greymane.

Team snOr came into Heroes Lounge as new comers, storming their way through division into a 6 wins record, and finally taking down fellow contenders in tie breaker to make it to the playoffs with their relentless play style.

Let us read about their origin story, and pick up a few titbits about Diablo along the way.

Hello Team snOr, would you like to introduce yourselves to our readers?

Hello world! We’re Team snOr, arguably the most discussed and best team in the 3rd division. We have a track record of going balls to the wall in almost all our games, which we would classify as the trademarked ‘snOr-Avalanche’. Most of the times it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. But hey, at least we’re having fun.

MoL: Played heroes since I got a alpha-key by selling one kidney to a rogue community manager. Never stopped since. I play flex and like niche heroes most. Tyrande has been my bae since the start.

Empariz:Hello! I’m Team snOr’s captain and main tank player. I love slamming beefy guys in a corner with my red hot Diablo. I hate playing newly released heroes for some reason. I sometimes get aroused when called the ‘Draft-King’ by my minions.

Bafke: ’m Bafke, the youngest of the bunch and de facto King of Supports. I’m known to screech on Discord because I can’t contain my excitement when playing Heroes Lounge. Also MoL’s IRL brother, so this makes us continuously fight about whose fault that one awful play was. Sexually identifies with Lumberjack Uther’s chest hair.

Melle: Sup my dudes, I’m Melle and I play flex for Team snOr. I am the Messi of team snOr. I come from a semi-professional StarCraft II background and won some local LAN’s and tournaments back in the day. Decided to play Heroes for relaxation-purposes, turns out it only made me more competitive. I love dive-heroes, first picking Illidan and long strolls on the beach.

Lichiz: I am the King of Carry, Emperor of the Solo Lane, Winner of Teamfights, GreyMain and certainly no megalomaniac no matter what everyone else says. Started playing after getting an alpha-key all the way back in ‘14. Known by my teammates for my unlimited supply of salt and overenthusiastic screaming when making a play.

How did you guys meet, and why the name?

Empariz and Lichiz are brothers, MoL and Bafke are brothers and we became friends. Melle is a different story: a few of us met him at a Starcraft tournament and we’ve kept in touch ever since.

Regarding our team name, basically it’s a joke/meme that started all the way back in 2011, when Starcraft Wings of Liberty just came out. A few of us grouped up and we called ourselves team snor. ‘Snor’ is the dutch word for moustache. We didn’t realise back then that literally no one other than dutchies might know what it means, but it has stuck ever since.

I understand that this is your first season in Heroes Lounge. How do you feel about it?

It’s pretty amazing. Playing the game in a tournament-setting makes it so much more competitive and fun. We also find we’re improving a lot more, both as a team and as individuals. One small downside to the Heroes Lounge experience is that we’re actually becoming reluctant to play the ‘official’ ranked modes anymore, just because we miss the ‘real’ competition. We’re very glad we made the decision to participate this season however and we can’t wait for the next one. But first things first: the playoffs.

Congratulations for making to the playoffs. How’re you all feeling and how do you feel about your group?

It should be easy enough. Nah, we’re kidding, but we’re quite confident. The opponent that should be the most challenging is Ping Pls since we played them previously and lost 0-2. We had to use a sub back then though, so we’re eager to see how we fare when we play them with our complete 5 man.

With regards to the bracket-phase, we’re looking forward to playing every team that makes it, but especially Twisted Gaming and Leipzig. They’ve been called favourites to win the cup so we’re eager to measure our strength.

Team snOr have now secured first place in Group B of Heroes Lounge Cup with the maximum 9 points.

What are your predictions for the Heroes Lounge Cup finals?

We expect to do well, and certainly to provide some exciting games for the viewers. Aside from the two teams mentioned earlier, especially MILFits and Elite A.I. The latter is a div 5 team that seems surprisingly strong. We look forward to seeing how far they come.

I have seen a few of your games, and you seem to be a very aggressive team. Are you worried that your future opponents have you figured out or do you have a few tricks left in the bag?

I think our play style is very much evolving still. We approach every game with a plan, and there might be a surprise or two coming.

Any tips on playing Diablo?

He’s great at punishing positioning mistakes, especially late game with his level 13 and 16 Q talents. To make the most of him, let your team know you’re going in. I let out a battle cry everytime I hit Q to make my intentions clear to my teammates. Then they follow up. Usually. Since Diablo is great at diving, he works well with heroes that can dive as well. Also, since so much of his power lies in his Q, he’s stronger on maps with a lot of corridors and small spaces like Infernal Shrines and Cursed Hollow.

Any shoutouts?

Shout out to Erwin from team Gorge Good Ult, who has been helping us out lately. Also our thanks to you, Arquine, for recommending us during the Playoff Draw stream, and for this opportunity to introduce ourselves.

Also, our local cafeteria for supplying us with the finest take-out on game nights. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.

That wraps out our interview with Team snOr! Thank you to MoL, Empariz, Bafke, Melle and Lichiz for the interview, I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I have. Be sure to check them out in the Heroes Lounge Cup playoffs this weekend!

As always if you have any feedback, suggestions, interview requests, or would just like to tell me how awesome the interviews are, you can always find me on discord.
