You have missed high quality Heroes Lounge matchups in the past? Well fear not, we have come up with a solution for you! To further improve your Heroes Lounge experience, we have decided to celebrate the weekly rigging in our new also weekly #RIGGED article that will highlight the best and most important matches from each division for every week of Heroes Lounge play.
So without further ado, here are the biggest matches for week 9 of season 6!
Memeldors Meme Machines (#2) vs. Chen Needs Nerfs (#4)
Memeldors Meme Machines, captained by longtime Lounge participant Deathknight, are tearing through division 1 right now after dropping a close series to EPG Frozen early on. With a win against CNN, they can basically secure themselves a spot in the upcoming play-offs.
Talking about winning and playoffs, Chen Needs Nerfs have suddenly turned into Chen Needs Wins. Our favourite try-hard memers were rampaging through division 1 at the start of the season, but they have now dropped two games straight. Despite currently being ranked 4th, they are still in danger of dropping out of the season finale if they cannot find a way to stop their downward trend.
Avada Kadabra (#20) vs. Pocket Toads (#19)
For Avada Kadabra, life has been a struggle so far, coming from division 3 straight to division 1 this season. After starting with a 2:0 victory over now inactive Five Shades of Greymane, they have only claimed a single map for themselves while benefiting from a BYE in week 8. This is almost a must win game for them if they want to keep their chances at avoiding relegation.
For their opponents Pocket Toads, it is once again time to #prayfortoads, as with a win they still have an outside shot at reaching the playoffs for the third consecutive season. After winning their first games, they had the unfortunate pleasure of running into some of the strongest teams of division 1, so a late season push up the standings might not be too far fetched for this seasoned Heroes Lounge team.
Heroes of Inclement Weather (#2) vs. CLN Giants (#7)
Heroes of Inclement Weather might have a frowny cloud as their team logo, but beyond that it has been all sunshine for them so far in their inaugural season. They have won six of seven games so far and have defeated some of the early season favourites for the division 2 crown and will be a team to watch for in the play-offs which they have almost certainly reached at this point.
This week they are up against another new team in CLN Giants, who have held true to their name so far as they have also only dropped one series. Due to them having been inactive for week 4, they will have to continue their winning ways to secure themselves a ticket for the Heroes Lounge Championship.
crisHiyo (#22) vs. FAT Panda (#19)
crisHiyo, the fanclub of popular HotS personality Cris, have had some trouble in their first season in Heroes Lounge. Most of the losses suffered however have also been close calls, going to a third battleground on a regular basis. Currently sitting at the bottom of the standings, they will have to find ways to win series to avoid relegation.
FAT Panda, no pun intended I’ve been assured, has struggled as much as they have impressed as it is never easy for a free agent team to compete in the higher divisions. While they might only sit at three wins, they have taken maps off of seasoned veteran teams like Throw The Advantage and Trust Issues.
IX Kohorta (#6) vs. EXAS Gaming (#5)
After what was a disappointing season 5 for IX Kohorta, they have now adjusted to division 3 play and are in good shape for a play-off push, only losing their first round match versus first place team Overshadow and second place NDMT in week 6.
They face off against EXAS Gaming, who in their first season in Heroes Lounge have performed equally as good as IX Kohorta. It is a big match for both teams and the battle for the final spot in the postseason could almost be secured with a win for either team.
Blazeholder (#21) vs. Yaoi Patrol (#23)
Blazeholder vs. Yaoi Patrol is the division 3 matchup this week with the most implications towards the dreaded relegation spots. With both teams sitting at two wins out of seven games so far, it is an even bigger game for Yaoi Patrol with them also having only four map wins total while Blazeholder has been trending upwards lately and at least securing a map win in each of their last two games. If they want to maintain their advantage however, winning against Yaoi Patrol is a must for them as well.
Badgeville Bush Bashers (#1) vs. Team Upside (#2)
Talking about a true highlight match, can’t get better than two team battling it out for the #1 spot in their division. BBB have shown to be as scrappy as can be, winning mostly by a score of 2:1 and even taking their one loss against Potatoes007 to a third and deciding map, which is impressive for a team in their first Heroes Lounge season.
Team Upside on the other hand have had an even more impressive start to their Heroes Lounge careers, so far having dropped only a single map to Addicted to Champagne and even defeating the fourth place Potatoes with a clean 2:0. No matter the outcome of this game, both teams are highly likely to make the play-offs at the end of the season.
Nutty Criminals (#24) vs. Lost in Rotation (#23)
While both Nutty Criminals and Lost in Rotation are certainly at the top when it comes to naming their team, they have struggled some in actual play. Both are sitting at three wins and the loser of this match finds himself one step closer to spending next season in division 5. It’s also really tough to get an idea of Lost in Rotations strength, as their last two games have been default wins for them while also being so unfortunate as to having drawn Team Upside as their week 1 opponents.
Death by Monkeys (#2) vs. Gay Horses (#3)
Another win-and-you’re-in scenario unfolds in division 5 where both Death by Monkeys and Gay Horses have put together strong performances so far. Both teams had to suffer only one loss coming into this week, with Death by Monkeys losing a close 1:2 series and Gay Horses only falling to seemingly invincible division 5 powerhouse LE GAG. If you need further proof that both teams belong at the top of their division, look no further than the Vod’s of their week 7 games, as both of them have been casted - and rightfully so.
Win By Miracle (#25) vs. FAT Sloth (#17)
Win By Miracle almost certainly do need some more miracles, having only won their first game of the season and not a single map since. They will have their work cut out to get off that ever so bitter last place in division 5, even more so as they face On Ruby Wings in week 8 and now FAT Sloth in week 9. For FAT Sloth, it has been a season so far that should be considered a success already, winning three games and putting up a good fight against veteran teams like Sky High. Why are there a team worth keeping an eye on then, you ask? Well, did you really think the first part of this new series would end on anything else than a team called FAT Sloth?
