Jan 25, 2017 Amateur League EU Inside Lounge Interview

On a lovely day back in December 2016, an even more lovely captain of one of the most famous and most visible teams of Heroes Lounge reached out to us with a request we could not refuse.

Team Solid

Aztecopi is the captain of Team Solid and the head of a sloth graces their team's logo. Sloths are mammals classified in the families Megalonychidae (two-toed sloths) and Bradypodidae (three-toed sloths), including six extant species. They are named after the capital sin of sloth because they seem slow and lazy at first glance; however, their usual idleness is due to metabolic adaptations for conserving energy. Aside from their surprising speed during emergency flights from predators, other notable traits of sloths include their strong body and their ability to host symbiotic algae on their furs. Thus, we should have known ...

Team Solid is on the top rank of Division 2 of Heroes Lounge - unbeaten so far. They took down teams like TheMadScientist, Vino Veritas, MyDirtyHero, and Focus Halloween. And today, on Wednesday the 25th of January, at 20:00 CET, they are going up against another unbeaten top contender for the first rank in Division 2 - Throw Inc.. The perfect time for an Inside Lounge, right?

Hey guys, would you like to introduce you and your players to the readership?

Aztecopi: Hello. I am Aztecopi, 17 years old and come from Finland, and am the main tank, drafter, shotcaller, pillar and carry for the team. Heroes of the Storm is my first MOBA and I have been playing it since official release. My real life hobbies include playing Heroes of the Storm in an amateur league.

Pittor: My name is Petter, 24 years old and from Sweden, also known as Pittor, or Pittorak. I am the melee flex player of the team and also try to target call in teamfights. I also try to carry in between feeding.

CptRaynor: This is Jimmy! I am an 18 years old student studying Environmental Management in the UK. Before Heroes of the Storm I didn’t really click with any MOBAs, but this was the one that did and I’ve been playing since beta. I met Aztecopi and Nintales while playing ARAM (All Random All Mid) and now here we are.

ArosAL: VoHiYo, this is ArosAL, the sloth living in your world of hjumens and playing ranged assassins for Team Solid after I was forbidden to touch any melee heroes in Season 1 (especially Arthas). Out of Lounge I am also a game design student doing some arts in what hjumens call “free time”. I also do some designs for the team and Heroes Lounge. I am the sloth behind the invasion.

Sardonic: I am Sardonic, I am 27 years old and from the UK. I have the stressful job of keeping our melee Jaina’s and Guldan’s alive. If I am not playing Heroes of the Storm I am usually being a healbot in Overwatch. I am not quite sure what went wrong in my life to turn me into a support only player...

BlueSialia: I am BlueSialia. You may have seen me doing reckless actions like poking with Sylvanas’ E, but luck has been on my side… so far.

Nintales: HeyGuys, I am Nintales, yes, the one from reddit. I am probably better known as “the problem of Team Solid” and “best melee Jaina EU”. I am a 16 years old boy, so that makes me really young *cute eyes*. I used to be the melee/flex for Season 1, but had to retire due to time problems [Captain’s note: We actually kicked him]. This however did allow BlueSialia and Sardonic to join the team. I am the only master player in the team, so this obviously makes me the best player right? What else? Oh yeah I am from France, and I don’t like fromage. Only cheese. Now I however have time so I might make a return soon…

Team Solid already played in Season 1 of Heroes Lounge under the name Vis Inertia. Why did you change your name?

The main reason for this change was that no one knew how to spell or pronounce our previous name. For example the question in this interview missed an “e” at the end of Vis Inertiae. Other reasons included a want to rebrand the team due to roster changes, as well as memeing on Team Liquid (RIP).

Vis Inertiae ended Season 1 with 9 wins and 2 losses in Division 2. You even won against one of the top contenders in Divison 2 of Heroes Lounge – CrocoDocs – back then. During the Playoffs Vis Inertiae made it to Round 5 of the Loser Bracket and, thus, in the Top 4 of Season 1 amongst Water Dragons, No Trick Ponies and Chaos in Complete Control. How do you think your chances are for this season? Are you going to win Division 2 or are you already planning further?

We’re really proud of what we were able to achieve last season. This season is going to be harder, especially after the matchmaking gets unrigged and we can finally play some of the really good teams (which has finally happened, get hype). We should definitely reach playoffs this season, but I won’t promise you on winning the division. Throw Inc is a really good team and we should at the very least put out a good fight, but we’re kind of approaching the match as underdogs which helps our morale in case things don’t go as planned.

How would you describe the development of your Team while you are playing in Heroes Lounge? Do you think you have improved a lot?

Our team has been consistently improving for the duration of the Lounge, especially after we were able to remove Nintales from the equation. Our synergy especially in the melee department has improved tremendously, and since we’ve been able to largely focus on one role we’re also better at that role.

Now, something different and to address more memes here: Would you guys rather fight a Cho‘Gall sized Murky or 1000 Murky sized Cho’Galls? And why?

The answers to this question has ranged from 1000 Murky sized Cho’Galls due to all those heads arguing, to one Cho’Gall sized Murky due to him still being shit.

Now, that’s a question which was definitely only asked to you guys. Who are the greatest memers of Heroes Lounge?

You do know this is the team that started the sloth invasion, the team that founded the Church of Anger, and we have Nintales on the team. Other teams aspire to be as great as us, but it just won’t be possible, and for that we pity them. Especially Agents, maybe they’ll get good at the game one day.

If you could choose between a lifelong playing in Bronze Hero League or sentenced to death and your executioner would be a lazy sloth, what would it be?

Personally I (Aztecopi, the one who has to edit together this incoherent mess my team has created) wouldn’t choose lifelong playing in diamond Hero League over death, and it does seem the team largely agrees with this sentiment. Some has false hopes that the sloth will let them go though, that is naive, sloths show no mercy to those they have sentenced.

Are you satisfied how Heroes Lounge develops in general or are there any wishes you have?

Season 2 so far has been really great, sadly we came across two disbanding teams in a row which was a shame. Nothing you can really do about that though. Heroes Lounge is probably one of the reasons a lot of us have remained active in the game. The discord does need more sloth emotes though, the invasion is never complete.

Any shoutouts or advertisement you want to share?

Shoutouts to Agents007, Ruini, Mist, Hapcher and all the other teams and players on other teams we’ve met through Heroes Lounge! BlueSialia also wants you to check out a different kind of ARAM tournament his friends are creating that should be really cool. Click [here].

Thanks to Aztecopi, BlueSialia, ArosAL, Pittor, CptRaynor, Sardonic, and Nintales for the time. If you liked what you just read, make sure to follow them on their Twitter.
