Aug 06, 2018 Amateur League EU Inside Lounge Interview

Greeting to all Slothmen and Slothwomen out there. Now is the time to meet our season 6 cup winners LE GAG who managed to go the entire season undefeated and our first team from division 5 to win the cup. This piece spanned many weeks starting before the Cup win so see if you can spot the point where the cup was won. Anyway I’m stalling so go and enjoy the piece.

Hello guys, first of all, can you please all start with introducing yourself to the readers and tell a bit about yourselves?

Møllefar

Hello, i'm Møllefar, the creator of doodles (if you are curious about how its pronounced, try danish google translate). Sometimes i save my teammates from certain death as the team's main support.

Lasse

R. Kelly - The World's Greatest

LGzumsar

Wattup? I am Zumsar. Used to be the main tank of the group, but now i'm the mostly solo laning becuz im the one on my team wit mad skillz.

Moth

Hey, im the moth and i  mostly play damage. I handle most of the shotcalling on the team, but we all pitch in. A main function, and a unique role i fill in the team is spreading a positive vibe, even after fuckups and being behind. Hots is a game of comebacks!

Nyfpac

Well hello there

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to make a interview. We always find it funny to see our matches on twitch afterwards with commentary and read about our journey on the blogs in heroeslounge. We, as a friend group, have been together since elementary school and some since kindergarten. We have been experiencing a lot together and this is just a new chapter in our long-lasting friendship.

I believe I installed the game just before HeroesLounge started. So I'm the newest addition to the team and to the game. I have been playing MOBA since Warcraft III Dota with HoN and Dota 2 along the way. So it was pretty easy to adapt. I usually play initiate and the role of warrior was obvious for me in HotS. I'm probably the crazy guy in the team that calls all the wild plays. The team might disagree sometimes, but luckily they have to follow up, when I initiate.

Not only is it the first season for team LE GAG in Heroes Lounge but also it is the first season for your players as well. So how has your experience been with Heroes Lounge so far?

Møllefar

so far very good! i think we have all enjoyed playing in a more competitive setting than usual. some of our first matches were kind of underwhelming, but lately we have been challenged quite a bit a more which has been nice.

LGzumsar

It has been very enjoyable. We've always enjoyed playing games together competitively and doing it in this format has been very fun.

Moth

by far the best hots experience! The fun of preparing to draft is a new element before a match. That combined with map choices and the whole tournament setup in general have really brought something new to the whole hots experience. We had no expectations going in to this, so winning all of our matches was a pleasant surprise :).

Lasse

Honestly i was getting a bit tired of playing hots before the tournament. I've always only really enjoyed playing the game with a few of my buddies, and the tournament has made a lot of us find a new appreciation for the "team" part of the game, i.e. drafting, scouting the other teams etc.

Nyfpac

I've been having a lot of fun playing Heroes Lounge. I have the mindset that I need to perform better and focus harder in HL than when I play Team League. I think that mindset is pretty general for all of us.

When you started the season did you have any aim’s for you and your team?

LGzumsar

When we started out it was all about having fun - but as we progressed and won all of our matches we became more and more competitive, so our goal now is to go as far as possible !

Møllefar

Coming into heroes lounge we didn't really know what to expect, since none of us had participated before. i think some of us were at least aiming for a promotion to division 4, however our main goal was to have fun and hopefully get a few wins!

Nyfpac

I had no goal or expectations for this season. I wasn't even sure if I was going to be a part of the team or not. We had 6 players who wanted to play and we decided that LGSpango and I should switch between the matches. I believe I joined in the 3rd match where LGSpango kind of lost interest, which you could say was kind of my luck. It was difficult to join a team that been superior in the first matches, because I didn't know if I was going to make the team stronger or weaker. Luckily we kept on winning and to this date still undefeated.

Moth

as the other guys said, our expectations were none going in. But with the wins we got, so did the expectations. So the aim was to have fun, and that we surely achieved.

Lasse

i don't think any of us thought we'd go this far, i personally figured we'd maybe win a few matches in our division and that would be that. turns out, we're pretty damn good. Winkyface.

Well you guys are on an incredible run in your first season winning every game in the league season and now into the playoffs. So what do think is the reasons behind your success so far?

Lasse

One of the things we've been quite happy with so far is the state of our drafts/counter picks against the other teams. We almost always go into a game feeling very good about our drafts

LGzumsar

It's gone very well indeed! I have to agree with Mr Meatloaf, our drafts have, for the most part, been on point throughout the season and we usually feel like we've out drafted our opponents. But another thing we've had going for us is our communication - there is never a silent moment on our discord doing the matches and we are responsive with our calls - and lastly I think we're pretty tilt proof as a team, partly because we know each other so well, which makes it easier for us to calm each other down when shit hits the fan!

Nyfpac

^agree with this guy

Møllefar

#metoo

Moth

Zumsar got it right, but we still have many aspect where we can improve. Hero pools and role swapping especially

With your early success how important is something like Heroes Lounge for you guys who play in the lower leagues? Is it a big difference to just playing Team League for you?

Møllefar

i would say that we prioritize to perform well in our heroes lounge games, so it's pretty important to us compared to Team League. It has felt kind of watered out since we played our first few heroes lounge games and now mostly serve as training/warm-up for lounge. we still do have fun playing Team League though!

I think however that the state of Team League is kind of disappointing at the moment and really needs some changes. 5v5 queue, some kind of in-game clan/team system and -finder, as well as in-client tournaments would be a great addition to the game.

Moth

id say the biggest and nicest difference is in the drafting, considering scouting and being scouted.

LGzumsar

I think one of the biggest things we enjoy about playing HL is the community around it. We always enjoy scouting and hyping ourselves up to play against our opponents and especially when we are going to get streamed we get extra hyped!

Nyfpac

It's very nice to win a trophy in Heroes Lounge. You don't win anything like that in Team League. Makes it hard to stay motivated. More trophies please.

Lasse

trophy hype! LE GAG 4 lyfe

Well guys big congratulations on winning the Heroes Lounge cup in your very first season. So how did you find the whole cup experience? Was it enjoyable?

Møllefar

Yes it was very enjoyable indeed! a fun weekend, though we were kind of exhausted for the last series Sunday after playing so much. Kudos to BBB, they must have been even more exhausted after playing more games than we did. I don't think we have ever been under as much pressure as when we were down two games to them in the finals, so it was a very exciting way to finish the cup (and the season). I think the break (2-3 hours?) we got between the semifinals and the grand final gave us an advantage in the end, where BBB had been playing almost non-stop since mid day.

Nyfpac

I did only participate in the group stage, but already then the team and I could still feel a different excitement towards the matches. We felt like we had a good draw and our dreams started to become bigger when we'd 2-0 the div 3 team Team Feuerzeug. Our confidence grew and we knew we had a chance to win the whole thing.

LGzumsar

I think it is one of the best gaming experiences we've all had. Overall it has just been so fun to prepare and get hyped about playing all the games!

Moth

it was great! Simple as that. special thanks to the people behind it! season 7 hype!

Lasse

Yes

Well I must say a big congratulations to you guys for winning the cup in season 6 and wish you all the best of luck in season 7. But one last thing do you guys want to give any shoutouts or famous last words?

Nyfpac

A big thanks to you and the team behind Heroes Lounge! Special thanks to you guys. We especially enjoyed watching the matches with casters and also learned a lot from it. Shoutout to our gamers in crime Team Salt from Div 4. Much love in the twitch chat always. Shoutout to our whole crew Le Gag - 13 bois who stuck together for more or less 20 years now. Shoutout to Blizzard - we would definitely consider going if we get an invitation to BlizzCon 2018.

Moth

Big thanks to the crew behind, for the hours of work. To the author, for his patience and endurance. Shoutout to the team, subs and rest of Le Gag. Shoutouts to team Salt.  And an extra shoutout to the casters! You really made it all worth it. See you in season 7.

Møllefar

thank you very much! big shout outs to the heroes lounge crew and the team. shout outs to BBB for giving us a run for our money. Team SALT for always keeping it real in the chat. famous last words: "Ice Block is ready!"

Lasse

I'd like to thank the team behind heroes lounge and everyone involved. This has truly been a great gaming moment.  Shouts out to everyone rooting for us, be it friend or former foe.
We'll be seeing everyone again in season 7, hope to make (almost) as much of an impact as we did in season 6.
Once again, so much love and respect for the people behind the scenes, you make the experience that much sweeter.
LE........GAG

This concludes our interview with LE GAG. Thanks to the team for taking time to answer some questions, and to all of you readers supporting the Heroes Lounge blog. I hope to see you all again for our next Inside Lounge interview.
