Last Monday, January 16th, the first Cup of the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship - Open Division started and several Heroes Lounge teams participated or at least tried to participate in the tournament to collect some of the points for the qualification to the HGC Open Division Playoffs.
The Heroes Lounge teams initially registered for the Open Division Cup #1 were Gorge good Ult, mYinsanity Heroes, Stiches wants to play, Kill Dance Assist, Silver Plebs, and Boosted Animals. Latter ones were unfortunately disqualified from the tournament only a few hours before the Check-in due to one player of their roster being from Dubai. However, after some other issues, Silver Plebs, Kill Dance Assist, and Stiches wants to Play faced their first opponents in Round 1 (Best of 64), mYinsanity Heroes and Gorge good Ult got a freewin for the first round. Silver Plebs and Kill Dance Assist unfortunately lost to [FeelsBadMan](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154607-feelsbadman-vs-silver-plebs) and [wp.me](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154612-wp-me-vs-kill-dance-assist)(The team of KnowMe and GerdamHerd) 0-2, respectively. Nevertheless, Stiches wants to Play won their match against [RejszTeam](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154628-stitches-wants-to-play-vs-rejszteam) and move on to Round 2 (Best of 32). In their first game of the tournament, Gorge good Ult took down [ExtasyGaming](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154633-gorge-good-ult-vs-extasy-gaming) 2-0. Also mYinsanity Heroes could win their first game against [Slap King Aba](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154643-myinsanity-heroes-vs-slap-king-aba) 2-1 and continued their path in the tournament. Stiches wants to Play on the other side lost in Round 2 agains [Pls Delete “Dream Genie Chromie”](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154644-plz-delete-dream-genie-chromie-vs-stitches-wants-to-play) and left the tournament as one of the best 32 teams in Europe’s amateur Heroes of the Storm scene. In Round 3 (Best of 16), Gorge good Ult had now to face [FeelsBadMan!](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154647-gorge-good-ult-vs-feelsbadman) but could not defeat them as well and had to leave the competition for this week. mYinsanity Heroes were not luckier and lost 0-2 to the former opponent of Stiches wants to Play, [Pls Delete “Dream Genie Chromie”](http://www.gosugamers.net/heroesofthestorm/matches/154652-myinsanity-heroes-vs-plz-delete-dream-genie-chromie). We at Heroes Lounge were happy to see several Heroes Lounge teams participating in the HGC Open Division and even earn some points for the qualification of the Open Division Playoffs. Live-Video von auf www.twitch.tv anzeigen As the tournament continued, none of the above mentioned teams could make it to the Semifinals of the Open Division Cup. In the end, Team Zealot consisting of GrandPkt, Shad, Atheroangel, Zarmony and Poilk could take the victory. Bkb’s and Andylendi’s team Latussia lost in the Semifinals to Team Zealot but could secure the 3rd spot for themselves. Since we wanted to know what the HGC OpenDivision Cup was like, we asked some of the Heroes Lounge teams’ captain to summarize their experience made. Read what they had to say: **Gorge good Ult** > Heya, > Morpheus here from Gorge Good Ult. As many of you know, yesterday was the first Open Division cup, and also we participated in it. Sadly the organization was the worst that ive ever experienced. Admins didnt know if its Bo1 or Bo3 or if you should ban on heroesdraft.com or ingame. Then the site was dead for ~ 20 minutes after the start, so nobody knew their opponent. Because we had a freewin in first round, we then needed to wait 2 1/2 h for our first draft. After that, we started with a decent tilt in the matches. In the Ro32 we were able to beat Exy with a fast 2:0, just to fall to FBman with Szychu, Krolu and friends. But at least we were able to get our first points for the playoffs. In the following weeks we now want to train harder to achieve a better run in the next cups and have a good ranking in the Top 16. **mYinsanity Heroes** > So how should we describe the Open Division with one word? Mhh.. waiting? The first thing we realised as the time went by, was that the website and everything broke down right on time. After 1h delay we finally could see the bracket. Overall players were already tilted and angry about the waiting time. Some teams had to wait over 2:30h to get to their first game. Atleast they got a free win. > So in our first game we faced slap king aba and it was a very good series. We took the first map which gave us confidence in going to the second map. Our opponnent picked The Lost Vikings and it gave us a hard time on Sky Temple, so we needed a third map and won that one on Dragonshire. It felt very good to win our first series since we had a loss streak in Heroes Lounge. There are pretty good teams in the Open Division and we faced on of them in our second series. We couldn't really capitalize on our strengths and it showed in the draft that they have the knowledge to win. > We will definetly try our best again in the next cups, as we are happy with the result we achived non the less. We already gave some feedback to Blizzard and GosuGamers, so I think the next cup will be smoother. **Silver Plebs** > So essentially it was like this, around 60 teams checked in out of 90 (not sure exact numbers +- a few), there were a dozen or so streamers with obv Grubby being most popular, there were quite a few famous pro gamers in there with their team, so it made it really exciting. We got Gluhammer's full GM team in first round so imediately went out, but learned a few things which made it quite a nice experience. Maps and Drafts are same as in Heroes Lounge which made it cool. > Organization itself was OK, but it felt a little bit messy, as the site went down when they announced brackets and was down for almost an hour, and ppl found who they are playing based on a screenshot who someone took. As is usual with open division there were sometimes really high difference matchups, even in later rounds and at certain points there were really high quality games in lower rounds (I think the best one I saw was Mopsio's team playing against Atheroangel and Zarmony's. > Overall several very nice games to watch, organization could use a little bit of work, but I'm sure it will improve in time, great chance to try your team against much better teams, and would recommend teams to play even if you are not looking for qualify, but just get a nice learning experience. Being on Monday was a huge problem for us, and many teams I know, only half of our standard setup could make it. We hope to see maybe even more teams of Heroes Lounge participating in the upcoming HGC Open Divsion Cups and wish them good look for their matches.
Many of you have waited for this announcement and now it is out. The date and the format of the Playoffs have been announced Friday on our [discord server](https://discord.gg/GcUwud3) and yesterday as a [Blogpost](http://heroeslounge.gg/blog/post/heroes-lounge-season-2-playoffs).
In the week of the 20th February 2017 the best teams of each division will compete in a Double Elimination Tournament. The finals will take place on the HGC-free weekend of February 25th/26th. As it can be seen in the image above, there will be 8 teams of Division 1, 5 teams of Division 2, and 3 teams of Division 3 qualified for the Playoffs. For more information, have a look at the Heroes Lounge Season 2 announcement post and join our discord server or follow us on [twitter](https://twitter.com/hotslounge) to be always up-to-date.
Things look different as we are proceeding in Season 2 of Heroes Lounge. Although [NoTrickPonies](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/23), [Gorge good Ult](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/67) and [FAT #5](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/98) are still on top of Division 1, there are strong contenders closely behind them, waiting for them to make a mistake. [Natus Dominari](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/22) won last Sunday against [Infinite eSports](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/47) and can close the gap to the top 3 if they going to win their game against [CoB Misclick](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/65) next week. CoB Misclick were taken down by [Lord of the Pings](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/65) who did not lose a game so far in Season 2 as well and seem to have a good shot to get into the Playoffs. However, since they did not play in Heroes Lounge this season until Round 3, they are two wins behind the top teams at the moment. In between Natus Dominari and Lord of the Pings there are [Blame The Healer](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/48). Tonight, they are playing versus Gorge good Ult. Hence, they have the direct chance to push themselves into the top 3 of Division 1. They only have to take down one of the favorites for the top spot of Heroes Lounge Season 2. In Division 2, all the top teams have secured last week their fifth win in a row. However, only two of them – [Team Solid](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/16) and [StarBoys](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/57) – have already won the sixth match and share now the top rank in Division 2. [Throw Inc.](http://heroeslounge.gg/blog/post/insidelounge-throw-inc) will face the [Abatheurs](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/29) this evening which are a strong contender for the Playoffs spots in Division 2 as well. The team which would definitely would benefit from a loss of Throw Inc. is Don Our Solid … ähm … Don Our Bakers … ähm, sorry, … [Don Our Fedoras](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/18) currently ranked 3rd in the Division 2 standings. Don Our Fedoras could take down [CoB PyroTap](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/64) on Thursday 2-0. CoB PyroTap, at the moment still on a spot for the Playoffs, have to hope for a loss of the Abatheurs today to maintain their rank. The most surprising incident this week in Division 2 was definitely the first win of the [Agents007](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/11) breaking the meme of going for the 0-7 in the next week. When it comes to Division 3, there are still 8 teams sharing the top spot. Remember, only three of them are going to make it to the Playoffs at the end of February. Last week [Chirand](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/49) could take down [Team Krarsem!](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/51) which leaves 7 of the top eight teams unbeaten, although none of them actually have played their sixth match yet. Today, two of them – [MEDIOCRIS](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/35) and [Stormstout Brewery](http://heroeslounge.gg/teams/view/79) – will face each other at 20:00 CET and will reduce the number of unbeaten teams to six. We will see what matches the matchmaking of Round 7, Round 8, and Round 9 will create for us and which teams can get into the Playoffs.
In total, we have eight games for you today, from 6 pm CET to almost midnight. So, feel free to tune in and when you there you can farm these sweet revlo points for our *Kandy King Muradin* Giveaway on the [Heroes Lounge twitch.tv channel](https://twitch.tv/heroes_lounge). Some of you who are quite active on the Heroes Lounge discord server already know that we started to get some statistics out of the replay files you submitted after your matches in Heroes Lounge. For now, we extracted the following statistics for each player out of the replays: * Kills per minute * Takedowns per minute * Percentage dead * Heal per minute * Damage per takedown Since the first four stats should be very clear, the last one might be a bit confusing. The Herodamage per takedown should be an indicator for the most useless Herodamage. For assasins lower number should be better than higher numbers. The larger this number is the more damage was farmed on tanks or in any other way. We are proud to announce that the rank 1 in this category is currently achieved by Ciabatta of the [Agents007](http://heroeslounge.gg/blog/post/insidelounge-agents007).
Additionally, we also extracted information about the Hero picks in the Heroes Lounge matches which you can look up in the worksheet. As it seems, Malfurion (75.42 %) is still considered the most useful support. Although his pickrate dropped E.T.C. (52 %) is still the most picked tank. This can be due to Diablo being banned out so often. The most picked Assassin is Tychus with a pickrate of (58 %). If you want to know more, check out the worksheet here:
You can find Playerstats and Pickstats for all the replays until the middle of Round 6. In addition, you can find the Player- and Pickstats separated for the single Divisions of Heroes Lounge including all games of Round 1 to Round 4.
Tonight Round 6 of Heroes Lounge will be officially over and the matchmaking for Round 6 will be done. Hence, some teams might be marked as inactive. Here is a list of the teams which (by Saturday evening) have not scheduled their Round 6 game yet and, thus, are in danger to be marked as inactive for Round 7: * 23 APM * GO|Feed * Witness Me! * Besatt eSport * Up In Smoke * Frozen Vikings * Placeholder * Silver-lining * Zero Tinder Matches * MVP B(ronze) * Stitches wants to Play * Throw The Advantage * Overextenders * The Last Word If you have any problems with the other team’s captain, take action and let the moderators know. Another thing moderators can do for you is to update your teams roster if you need it. Since there were two incidents this week, we would like to remind you of the Substitute rules of Heroes Lounge. Only the players on the team’s page on HeroesLounge.gg can play in Heroes Lounge matches. At least 3/5 Players of the original team must participate. For every substitution, which is not assigned as a permanent Sub to your team, you must ask the others team’s captain for permission. In addition, all players have to use the battle.net account they have registered at HeroesLounge.gg. If you want to play for whatever reason on a smurf account of yourself, the same rules apply as for non-permanent subs of your team and you have to ask the other team’s captain for permission. If you at any point want to make roster changes, or change the Battle.net Tag of yourself registered at HeroesLounge.gg, reach out to a moderator of Heroes Lounge on our discord server. Changes are usually made within less than 24 hours. As usual, breaking rules – also when it comes to substitutions – will result in an instant loss of the match. The newest hero of the Nexus, Zul’Jin, will be allowed from Round 7 on. However, next week Valeera will be joining the Nexus and when it comes to Heroes Lounge she will be banned for games of Round 7, Round 8, and Round 9. On the other site, there are plenty of changes to other “old” heroes coming with the patch next week which might influence the meta of the Heroes Lounge matches. *We wish all of you good luck with your upcoming matches in Heroes Lounge.
