Jan 27, 2017 Amateur League EU Inside Lounge Interview

The term fedora was in use as early as 1891. Its popularity soared, and eventually it eclipsed the similar-looking homburg. The word fedora comes from the title of an 1882 play by dramatist Victorien Sardou, Fédora, which was written for Sarah Bernhardt. Fedoras have become widely associated with gangsters and Prohibition, which coincided with the height of the hat's popularity in the 1920s to early 1950s. American crooner Frank Sinatra made a fedora a near staple of his style, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s. The fedora hat of the ninth president of Turkey, Süleyman Demirel, was a famous part of his image. Indiana Jones re-popularized the fedora in the Indiana Jones franchise. Michael Jackson frequently wore a fedora in public appearances, concerts and video clips. Johnny Depp is known to often wear a fedora... By the early 21st century, the fedora became a symbol of hipsters. In Division 2, the team Don Our Fedoras showed a good competition, currently sitting relatively safe on a Playoff spot, winning 6 out of 7 games so far. Besides Team Solid and the Agents007, they are an important part and pillar of the memes in Heroes Lounge. Read about them in this new Inside Lounge.

Don Our Fedoras‘ members are Epixors, Mist, joshp8, orieal, and ruini. Would you like to introduce yourself to the audience?

Epixors: Hi, I’m Epixors, the captain, drafter and a terrible button presser. In Hero League I am the most tilt prone member of our team, on our team I’m the only one who actually manages to stay calm and guide us to victory. I have an extensive hero pool including Dehaka, Dehaka and on occasion, Dehaka.

Mist: Hi, names crap.. I mean muck.. aahh bullshit! I'm Mist, pseudo carry of the team and a passionate sleeper. My team tries its hardest to deny me to hit any skillshots, but things die suddenly and I can’t explain why. Sometimes I like to ignore all the calls and go on a solo mission to find the true meaning of life, SMOrc. I yearn for the moment my  team lets me play Nova...

Josh: Hi, I’m joshp8 or justjosh or josh is fine I provide the dank heals for DoF. In the words of the wise Mist I’m either the most gifted support providing dank Cleanses or I just die lol, live for the feed...

Orieal: Hi! I'm orieal and I'm the ranged DPS that does half the damage of Mist in every game. During season one I was only allowed to play Lunara (and did that sick wisp play) and went on strike and now am allowed to play Gul’dan also. I occasionally read the Heroes Lounge Discord but don't understand the memes or Twitch emoootes (and being on voice chat with Froge was like speaking in a foreign language) due to my ever advancing years. I recently stopped duo queuing with Epixors and have realised my true Platinum potential as opposed to his tilted Silver.

Ruini: Hi I’m Ruini, main Zarya of the team. I identify as a Zarya and sometimes as a Zarya in a tank. Sadly for me Zarya is usually banned so I end up just having the tank. I enjoy healthy MMR boosting and Slothing as the caster. My jobs on the team include but are not limited to: trying to wake up Epixors, feeding into balabub, pinging the minimap. Give me Zarya BabyRage.

Neglected Mascot: Hi I’m Artemis and I don’t know how I ended up in the DoF discord, but I never left and now I’m the Team Mascot. I don’t even know what HotS is. But I know Epixors is shit at it.

We’ve already had Team Solid and the Agents007 in InsideLounge. Both of them claim to be THE memers of Heroes Lounge! What would you like to tell them?

Epixors: Team Solid’s memes have been pretty weak this season, but they know how to play the video game. Agents007’s meme senses never become dull, but they seem to struggle playing the video game. We try to find a healthy balance between memes and playing the video game, to keep the Holy Meme Triangle stable. To Team Solid I’d like to say deport Feedztecopi. To Agents, git gud.

How did you five find eachother, heard about Heroes Lounge, and decided to play here?

Epixors: Mist, Orieal and I signed up as free agents back in Season 1. We were put together in a FAT with 2 people who never showed up. Our former tank player Aperture joined us through Cosmic as he was late for sign-ups. Just before we had to play our match our last free agent didn’t show up so Aperture invited Josh to play. On that fateful day Josh played a non-support in one game. It was the last time. Since then, Aperture has left us on his quest to live his life as a panda (see our Season 2 announcement). Josh decided to stick around with us and we recruited Ruini as our tank player for Season 2 who got grand Jebaited into thinking he was joining a good team.

Ruini: Can confirm I got grand Jebaited, really did think I was joining a highly competitive team! Instead of course getting caught up in a highly competitive meme war. Epixors colors looked important OSsloth.

Looking at your Master’s Zarya one-trick pony, are you still practicing with Zarya although she is instantly target banned against you every time?

Epixors: Legend has it that whenever Ruini selects a hero that isn’t Zarya in Team League or Unranked Draft, the game changes it to Zarya whenever he loads in.

Ruini: Give me Zarya BabyRage.

Epixors and ruini are casters for Heroes Lounge as well. How would you describe the difference between good and not so good teams in Heroes Lounge? What are usual mistakes not so good teams are doing?

Epixors: A lot of teams, especially in division 3 and lower division 2 manage to throw a game largely in the draft by drafting a composition without considering how that composition needs to win on the map, how it plays against the opponent on the map and in team fights and if their team is actually capable of proper execution. On top of that, a lot of teams neglect things like proper rotations which makes it pretty easy for teams that do them properly to farm them in the early game.

Ruini: One of the bigger flaws a lot of weaker teams seem to make is not to draft a composition, but a random assortment of heroes and then neglecting to formulate a game plan. without an idea how to play these 5 heroes as a team you quickly end up just running around in circles, not really accomplishing much.

At the moment, you are quite safe for a playoff spot in Division 2. However, there are still 3 rounds to be played and 7+ teams who have a chance to get into the playoffs. How are you going to keep the right mindset and keep yourself motivated for the rest of Season 2?

Epixors: We like winning the video game.

Orieal: All I do is work now so we can have subs who feed less.

Epixors: Unless it’s Alchemy subbing in which case our average feeds go up.

What would you say are the best teams in Division 2 of Heroes Lounge and how would you describe their chances in the Playoffs at the end of February?

Epixors: The teams I consider the strongest in Division 2 are StarBoys, Team Solid and Throw Inc. StarBoys have a solid roster of players and play a lot of Team League together so have good synergy. Team Solid also have a solid roster (4Head), and have recently started practicing again so I expect them to be pretty tough if we do end up facing them. Throw Inc. just have a very level-headed approach to the game. Draft comforts, press the buttons, win the video game.

Epixors, you are not only Player, Captain, and Caster, but also one of the minions coding stuff for the Heroes Lounge platform. Tell us, what shiny new things can we expect in the near future or for Season 3?

Epixors: The great reworkening has been moved to Season 4 which will be assisted by Rikki (please ping him in the Discord). For Season 3 there will be a minor rework to allow smoother signups, easier information gathering for teams and a cleaner structure for better navigation.

Additionally, Epixors was chosen as the official Dutch caster of the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship. How is that going?

Epixors: It’s pretty decent, besides some production value problems like massive lagf and me turning into a robot. I’d like to thank all the Heroes Lounge people who are boosting my viewer numbers in exchange for skin codes :)

Ruini: Honestly it turned out great and I actually prefer it over the main stream. Production value or not he is able to make me laugh in the end with some added Flame(™) commentary.

Back to Don our Fedoras. How are you usually preparing for matches in Heroes Lounge? Are you putting a lot of effort into the analysis of your opponents?

Epixors: Depending on how I feel about our opponent, I’ll either just check how they did in their previous matchups and study their drafts, up to studying multiple replays to check weak links in their team, their draft, their execution of the map and team fights, etc.

Mist: I sometimes help Epixors out with watching the replays. We also have a discussion going how to play versus specific things our opponent played in the past.

Your next opponent will be OrderOfGul’Dan. A team which is quite experienced in Heroes Lounge since they already played in Season 1 and which only lost against the top team of Division 2, the StarBoys, whom you have also lost against. What can we expect from this match-up?

Epixors: Mist has been instructed to murder them. We trust in Mist.

Ruini: Give me Zarya BabyRage.

Mist: Hopefully a ban on Tychus and Falstad and a Nova pick up on our side. PartySloth

Epixors, Post Game: We stomped. No Nova was picked. Dehaka one trick prevails.  Mist finally displayed his first skin in this series PogChamp

Ruini, Post Game: I didn’t get enough Zarya BabyRage.

Mist, Post Game: You have to ban Tychus AND Falstad.

How many revlo points did your members already farm on the twitch channels of Heroes Lounge?

Epixors: I keep the economy stable by gambling until I lose all my points. I call RIGGED BabyRage

Ruini: After heavy calculations that our captain refused to do, we came to the grand total 17,635 points. Mist being the highest at 6,506 points. I wonder if all those points could give me Zarya (BabyRage)?

Do you have any shoutouts or advertisement you want to share?

Epixors: Shoutout to Sardonic from Team Solid for becoming a semi-member, subbing for Josh while he was busy having a life and helping us out a ton in general! Also a shoutout to Artemis for being the worst, and probably only, mascot in division 2.

Neglected Team Mascot: S/o to Epixors for being so terrible at this game he tilted to silver.

Thanks to Epixors, Ruini, Orieal, Josh, Mist, and the neglected Team Mascot for the time. https://heroeslounge.gg/backend/rainlab/blog/posts/update/8
